Hip Hop History Month - "H.igher I.nfinite P.ower H.ealing O.ur P.eople"

Peace Asiatics!

Not sure how many of us are aware that November is "Hip Hop History Month". Here in Atlanta, on November 1st, there was a panel discussion (and concert that followed) called “Meeting of the Minds” that opened the month us with a broad discussion about many things including inter-personal relationships, works we do in the hood to save our people, health and nutrition, etc, that can all be correlated with the elements of hip hop. There were a few hip hop heads on the panel - stic.man of dead prez, staHHr the femcee, Dr. taj anwar of Crew Love and MOBB, and more. One stand-out member of the panel was Minister Server who is a Hip Hop Life Coach" and (as his website states - http://www.hiphopministries.org/Splash_Screen.html) has spent "5 years dedicated to the development, growth and preservation of HipHop culture", he is KRS-ONE’s spiritual advisor, and heads the Temple of Hip Hop. One thing that Minister Server reminded us of at the discussion was that Hip Hop is not just about music, IT IS A CULTURE, a way of life that includes the elements of “Breakin, Emceein, Graffiti Art, DeeJayin, Beatboxin, Street Fashion, Street Language, Street Knowledge and Street Entrepreneurialism.”

I, like many in my age range, came up during Hip Hop’s “golden era” when – aside from NWA and 2 Live Crew – the only rap you heard was either conscious or fun lovin’. Times have changed, BUT we don’t have to change for the worst with them and neither do our listening habits. Minister Server’s build below is about “RENUNCIATION” – an act or instance of relinquishing, abandoning, repudiating or sacrificing something. In the Nation of Gods and Earths we study the Supreme Mathematics – a set of core principles that, when applied, help one to lead a righteous, purpose driven life. Within the math are the principles ‘build’ and ‘destroy’. We have to build ourselves up while simultaneously destroying the mis-teachings, misgivings, negative thoughts and behavioral patterns that have kept down, kept us from acknowledging and achieving our greatness – as individuals and, most importantly, as a people.

Although times have changed, and hip hop has changed with it, there are some great acts making edutaining, powerful, uplifting music. Some of the hip hop music I listen to that helps me to meditate, “renounce”, and “relax, relate, release” negative thoughts, ways and behavior is Lupe Fiasco, M.I.A., RXC - Classic 1824, staHHr, Jay Electronica, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, dead prez, A-Alikes, Jedi Mind Tricks, The Coup, Murs, Common, Little Brother, Immortal Technique, Wise Intelligent, Lord Jamar, The Roots and more.

Anyway, here’s a little something that may help you “breathe and stop”, “be stilled” and at peace…

NOVEMBER 2008 "FOOD FOR THE SPIRIT"©

Peace and much love! The divinity in me salutes the divinity in you, Word
The spiritual gift for the month of NOVEMBER is RENUNCIATION.
The root word of RENUNCIATION is renounce, which means to voluntarily release something. Your spiritual gift of RENUNCIATION, gives you the ability to release all negative thoughts, words and actions from your human experiences. It gives you the ability to release anything that is not for YOUR highest good and greatest joy. When you take an honest look at your life, you will realize how it has been strongly influenced by your own thoughts, words and actions. The results, whether they were positive or negative, will manifest in your life.
With all the changes happening in the world, this is a great time for you to begin to re-evaluate your life. Perhaps there are some bad habits that you've been thinking about letting go or some folks you know you need to cut off! Everyday is another opportunity to use your gift of RENUNUCIATION to let go of those people, places and things that have been obstacles in your path and have kept you from living the life you were born to live!
Using your gift of RENUNUCIATION is an internal process that each person goes through when they are ready to experience more harmony, joy and fulfillment in their everyday living. Don't allow yourself to forget that you have a divine mission to complete; don't get distracted no matter what the world tries to tell you! As you eliminate negative beliefs, feelings, memories and hurts from your past, it's very important for you to forgive and release the people, places and things involved in those situations with love, not bitterness. I know this is tough and for most of us, it's sometimes easier said than done, however, that's why God gave you the spiritual gift of RENUNUCIATION!
If you are still holding on to any kind of grudges, large or small, you are blocking YOUR blessings from flowing to you because you have not used RENUNCIATION to release that hurt and pain. First, you must forgive yourself and then you will be able to forgive others! Forgiving creates a vacuum that allows your consciousness to become uncluttered and ready to filled with more God's light, love and life!
When using your gift of RENUNCIATION, become aware of how you are allowing your thoughts, words and actions to lead you. As you do this you will learn how to govern your thoughts accordingly. Perhaps this is what the Apostle Paul meant when he said you must, "learn to hold your thoughts in captivity", or in other words, don't just let your thoughts wander all over the place! Remember, ALL thoughts are active and in time will produce something in your physical existence!
When was the last time you truly relaxed, let go and allowed yourself to get quiet, so you could actually hear that "still small voice" within you? Right now is the perfect to do it and when you do, your spiritual gift of RENUNCIATION will allow you to release any negative feelings you have, wherever you are and regardless of any circumstances you are facing, so that you may experience living life abundantly! It is true, we let It be and there It is, Word!
Forever a Humble Intuitive Person Helping Our People,
